helen.jpg (21876 bytes) During our Sunday night in Rome, about 15 of us decided to do the "Pub Crawl".  Here's how it works:  The meeting point is the Metro Station across from the Coliseum at 8 PM.  Everyone hanging out gets escorted to a park above the Metro Station.  This is were we are met by a couple of other people with beer and wine.  Sundays are usually slow, however, on this Sunday, there were a total of about 40 participants.   An emergency call was made for more beer.

So, we are hanging around, getting well lubricated, wondering what is up next.  Our plan was announced, we would drink for about 90 minutes or so, then hit five bars where we are provided a shot.  Everyone started talking and introducing themselves.  Then the drinking games were started!  These were the typical games that involved memory, and the less you need to drink, the more you are made to drink.

Egg-toss...what a mess!

One game involved spinning in a circle hold a closed can of beer.  This goes on for about 30 seconds.  When told to stop, the can is tossed.  The player must then chase the beer, open it, and chug it.  Vic won that contest.  There was also a joke telling contest, Faelynn won that one.  Contest winners get two shots at every bar.
When the time was right, we left to hit the bars.  The first one was quite a distance, so we would take the city bus.  Since there were forty of us, and one bus driver, we didn't have to pay.  But if problems would arise, the pub crawl manager would sound the signal and run.  We would then run after him.  This time, there were no problems.
We were greeted at the first bar with our shots.  Then a few other drinks were bought.  We spent about 45 minutes there, then walked to the next bar.  Here, the process started all over again.

This whole thing was over by about 1 or 2 (it's all a blur).  If you are ever in Rome, try it.  It happens every night!
